London trio Benin City have been documenting the decline of the London night scene for some time. On their new single, they describe what is being lost.

Myriad are the tales of developers building next door to venues only for the new residents to complain about noise and get that venue closed down as if they were somehow surprised what moving next door to a club/cinema/pub might involve. That’s been at the heart of Benin City’s more recent output and the combined thoughts will go to make up the forthcoming LP, due next year.
Take Me There will kick off that album, with the band telling Loud & Quiet “We always felt the album should start with something about that giddy anticipation when walking into a club for the first time – that feeling as you walk through the double door and bass fills your knees and everything is potential and everyone is interesting and dry ice and strobes are in the air”.
This is their first release since signing to the ever-excellent Moshi Moshi label.
