Based in Lausanne, Soraya Lutangu is a producer of mixed African and European heritage, something that is relevant given the content of her new EP, Free Lutangu.
Her first hand experience in facing institutionalised racism and oppression inform the EP throughout. The opening track, Supremacy, samples Sister Souljah’s infamous interview with Bill Moyer in between bursts of drone-noise which could have come from Muslimgauze’s back catalogue. It’s challenging stuff, obtusely and deliberately so, but we deserve to be challenged. These aren’t ‘their’ problems, they are those of us all.
