Sacred Paws’ should probably be filed under Q for quirky, but there’s so much more to them than that.

We’ve had a couple of EPs from them, but Strike A Match represents their first full album and the title track sums them up rather well.
They are based in London and Glasgow, a logistical challenge for the pair which makes them far too familiar with the dreaded Megabus, and while there are hints of a number of other things going on, their sound is unique.
They remind us of The Slits – in attitude as much as musical style – and all those African sounds we first heard on the John Peel show. This is feelgood stuff to lift these dark times.
