South Londoner Loyle Carner is the next big thing in UK hip-hop. And it’s easy to see why.
Featuring regular collaborator Rebel Kleff and guest vocals from Jehst, No Worries is a laid-back groove taken from Carner’s debut LP, Yesterday’s Gone. For one so young, he comes across as extremely mature in his lyrics. An ADHD sufferer rejected by his biological father and recently bereaved of his stepfather, these experiences all inform his songwriting. It’s not all candid and dark, however, and you feel that he has a lot more to say as the years go by. On this basis, it’ll be worth listening to.
