It’s playful stuff with a raucous edge and bloody good tunes. Basically, there’s not a lot to not love. They’re not taking themselves too seriously and it comes across in the music. Watkins told Echoes And Dust that “When I left Future of the Left last year, I felt I’d had enough of music. I was no longer excited by it. I sold a few guitars, went teetotal and read a load of books”. Then a moment of inspiration struck on a film set and ten songs were written in double-quick time and the album Welcome To The Slow Cooker was suddenly a thing.
