US-influenced lo-fi from Wakefield.
Some areas get overlooked in terms of their music, and that’s where innovative labels come into their own. Wakefield suffers for having Leeds to the north and Sheffield to the south, but Philophobia records are doing their bit to ensure the brightest and best from the area get themselves out there.
One Day After School, The Spills, The Michael Ainsley Band are three bands we like a lot here to appear on their books. And the latest one we’ve found is Piskie Sits.
Their second studio long player came out in November and it’s rather good. As mentioned, it’s very west-coast influenced and is thoroughly decent. There’s a really good feel to it – a cheeky vibe, a playfulness – as well as technical accomplishment.
